Southern African recipes: Cape Malay Bobotie

A Bobotie is defo one on my favourite South African dishes. I blogged a recipe some month ago already; now Justin Bonello* uploaded a mouthwatering video in which he is presenting another great Cape Malay Bobotie recipe. Yummy!

Ingredients: garlic, raisins, cardamon seeds, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, garamasala, tumeric, curry powder, lean mince, onions, butter, chutney, chilies, eggs, cream, salt & pepper

  1. heat oil
  2. seeds in first
  3. onions in next
  4. 2 teaspoons of curry powder
  5. add the mince
  6. add chutney
  7. add raisins
  8. press mince into an ovenproof dish
  9. pour over egg wash (eggs, cream, salt & pepper)
  10. bake in the oven for 15min at 200C
  • serve with sweet chili jam, sambals and mango atcha and Basmati rice
  • garnish with beetroot sprouts an pappadums
