Cape Town: Table Mountain & Signal Hill roads closed at night

Authorities in Cape Town have closed both the road to Table Mountain and Signal Hill for all unauthorised vehicles between 22:00 - 05:00. In a joint decision South African National Parks (SANParks) and the South African Police Service (SAPS) agreed to close the roads to prevent more crimes from occurring around the two scenic routes.

Both roads, the Tafelberg Road (Table Mountain), just after the Kloof Nek Parking Area, and the Signal Hill Drive (Signal Hill), at a certain point after the main route up Lion’s Head, will actually be physically blocked during that time. Walking to the mountain and to one of Cape Town's most famous look-out points between 22:00 - 05:00 is still allowed though.
Tour operators can get an authorisation to drive on the roads at night from Table Mountain’s Kloof Nek visitor safety office.
